Agenda Item Summary:
The property owner intends to relocate the driveway to their property. They are requesting to leave existing boulders in the location of the current driveway as well as add additional boulders to that location. These boulders would be located within the right-of-way. Ordinance 12.12.50 reads: No person shall erect or maintain any building, fence, sign or structure upon any public right-of-way or upon any public property. The criteria requirements are below. Staff recommends asking the engineer to revise the plan to eliminate any sight triangle obstructions or hazards as defined by AASHTO and provide documentation that what is being proposed does not create a hazard or impede the sight triangle. IDCM, 2012 Edition 2.12.2 Restrictions 1) Obstructions: No obstructions to vision shall be allowed within the applicable sight triangle (s), except as permitted by ordinance. An object shall be deemed an obstruction if it creates a hazard as defined by the AASHTO guidelines. 2) Multiple sight triangles: When more than one sight triangle applies to the same corner, all applicable sight triangle requirements must be satisfied.
