Agenda Item Summary:
This project is for the full reconstruction of approximately 1,125 feet of Dyess Avenue, north of Seger Drive, and an additional 2,800 feet of a mill and overlay of the existing asphalt roadway. Dyess Avenue is a minor arterial on the City’s major street plan and given the heavy truck traffic from nearby industrial businesses, the existing pavement section is failing. The full reconstruction portion includes the necessary grading to install three 12-foot lanes (concrete pavement) and 6-foot asphalt shoulders. Two double 15-x4’ concrete box culverts will be installed to facilitate drainage. The mill and overlay section will include milling 2” of existing asphalt, the placement of a leveling course, and the installation of a 3” asphalt overlay. The existing 16” PVC water main will be lowered to allow for construction of the box culverts, and the sanitary sewer manholes will be adjusted as necessary.
