Agenda Item Summary:
This project is for Phase 2 of the Deadwood Avenue Reconstruction Project north of I-90. This portion of the project is from the section line (located approximately 3,400 feet north of Tatanka Road) north to the Pennington/Meade County Line (total project length is about 5,500 feet). This project is a joint venture between the City of Rapid City, Pennington County and the Department of Transportation. Approximately half (2,750 feet) is within the City’s jurisdiction and the remaining portion is in Pennington County’s jurisdiction. Work includes the realignment of Deadwood Avenue, the installation of an asphalt pavement section with ditches and culverts at approaches to facilitate drainage.
This project has been identified as a Roadway Safety Improvement Project by the DOT, and is therefore eligible for federal funds known as Roadway Safety Improvement (RSI) funding. RSI funding will pay for 90% of costs associated with preliminary engineering, bid letting, construction and construction administration of the project. The City and County will equally share the remaining 10% of the project costs. The total estimated cost of the project is $3,500,000.00; therefore, the City’s estimated portion is $175,000.00. Actual City costs will be based on final construction costs.
The City will be responsible for all costs associated with property acquisition and utility relocations within the City’s portion of the project.
