Agenda Item Summary:
The City of Rapid City, Solid Waste Division currently uses a flare to burn methane gas that is produced from closed landfill cells. Operation of this system is required by state and federal air quality regulations. The operation of this system is permitted through the South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources Permit No. 28.1101-02. The Title V Permit Application has been prepared in accordance with South Dakota Administrative Rules-Article 74:36. Permit Renewal is for a five (5) year period. Action authorizes the Mayor to sign the permit renewal application (two (2) copies) for the City.
