Agenda Item Summary:
City Staff applied for, and was awarded a 2023 Bridge Improvement Grant (BIG) Preliminary Engineering (PE) funds for preliminary engineering work on the Tomahawk Drive Bridge. This structure is located in a residential neighborhood and separates the Arrowhead Country Club private golf course from the Meadowbrook Municipal Golf Course. The 2022 Bridge Inspection Report identified that the structure is exhibiting deterioration and the City should consider replacement options in the coming years. As part of the PE contract, the Consultant will complete a hydraulic analysis and determine the appropriate type, size and location of the replacement structure. The PE report may be used to apply for a future BIG for the replacement of the structure. Per the agreement, the SDDOT will hire the consultant (of City’s choosing) and will directly pay the Consultant for all project costs. The SDDOT will be responsible for 80% of eligible project costs, not to exceed $68,400. The City will reimburse the SDDOT for 20% of eligible project costs up to the max BIG amount is reached, and 100% of remaining project costs. Funding source for this project is CIP-Streets.
