A request was received in the Engineering Office on August 27, 2020 requesting the requirement to install sidewalk along Rosemary Lane and Wonderland Drive per City of Rapid City Ordinance 12.08.060 be waived. A five-foot wide sidewalk is required to be constructed along Rosemary Lane and Wonderland Drive at the time of building permit, with the property having approximately 138 feet of frontage along Rosemary Lane and approximately 270 feet of frontage along Wonderland Drive. The requested variance will allow for construction of a new 720 sq. ft. garage. The streets in this area are rural roads making it difficult to construct sidewalks due to topography, and the City has street work scheduled in this area in 2026. Staff is in agreement with the justification from the applicant and supports the request.
