Agenda Item Summary:
A request was received in the Engineering Office on January 8th, 2020, requesting the requirement to install sidewalk along the east side of Sweetbriar Street from Avenue A to 132 south of Avenue A, fronting the Drainage Lot on the southeast corner of the intersection of Sweetbriar Street and Avenue A, be waived per City of Rapid City Ordinance 12.08.060. A fivefoot wide sidewalk is required (see Attachment 2) to be constructed along Sweetbriar Street (see Design Sheet 1) at the time of Avenue A construction, with the property having approximately 132 feet of frontage along Sweetbriar Street. Staff recommends to deny this request since the sidewalk is included in the design (see Design Sheet 2) and most likely the City will not get a future opportunity to require this sidewalk to be constructed.
