Agenda Item Summary:
Rapid Construction was the City’s contractor for the Alma St., Gladys St., and Lennon Ln. Area Water Main Extensions Project. Construction began in 2013 and was completed in 2014. In 2015, the City discovered that Rapid Construction had placed a portion of the Alma Street water lines close to the edge of the 20 foot permanent utility easement, instead of in the center of the easement. The City asked Rapid Construction to correct the problem to ensure that the City has access in the future to service, maintain and replace the water main, when needed. Ultimately, Rapid Construction obtained and paid for a new water line easement from the property owner that accurately reflects the water line locations, in exchange for a release of claims from the City.
