Agenda Item Summary:
In 2016 a new soccer complex was constructed off Elk Vale Road and as a result several fields in Rapid City were relinquished from the lease held by Soccer Rapid City. One of those properties was the polo fields located adjacent to the Fairgrounds. Representatives from the Fair Board approached the City to request that they be allowed to use that facility for overflow activities at the Fairgrounds. In discussions with the Fair Board, they stated that they would work with other organizations who would be interested in using the facility at times it was not being used for fair activities. The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board voted unanimously on February 9th to approve the amended Land Use Agreement with the Fair Board to include the property known as the polo fields. The lease stipulates that parking will only be allowed on the paved portion of the property and the Fair Board agrees to maintain the property in good condition and be responsible for all mowing and maintenance.
