Agenda Item Summary:
The applicant has submitted an application to vacate a portion of the East Boulevard right-of-way adjacent to Fire Station #1 between Main Street and the railroad right-of-way located northwest of the intersection of East Boulevard and Main Street. In particular, the applicant is proposing to vacate a 40-foot wide portion of East Boulevard for a distance of 300 feet. This aligns with previously vacated right-of-way located north of the subject area. East Boulevard is classified as a Principal Arterial street on the City’s Major Street Plan, requiring a minimum 100-foot wide right-of-way. Vacating 40 feet of the right-of-way will result in an approximately 112-foot wide right-of-way, which complies with the Infrastructure Design Criteria Manual. In addition, the right-of-way to be vacated is not needed as a utility or drainage corridor. As such, vacating the right-of-way will not adversely impact the neighborhood.
