Agenda Item Summary:
The applicant has submitted a Conditional Use Permit application to allow a group home in the Medium Density Residential District. Specifically, the applicant intends to construct a group home, known as the Abbott House, to serve foster children within the surrounding region. The group home is approximately 6,450 square feet in size and will be staffed by two full time employees who live in the residence. The proposed group home consists of seven bedrooms and two, 2-bedroom apartments for foster children who choose to stay in the Abbott House after graduation from high school. On September 9, 2019, a Zoning Exception (File# 19ZE018) was approved to reduce the required rear yard setback for the proposed development to 23 feet in lieu of the required 25 feet and to allow a maximum lot coverage of 34% in lieu of 30%. The subject property is zoned Medium Density Residential District and is accessed via Providers Boulevard. The Future Land Use designation for the property is Urban Neighborhood.
