Agenda Item Summary:
Ordinance 6311 amends the definition of “building setback line” which determines where a structure may be placed in relation to the public right-of-way. In recent years, many dedications of public right-of-way have been made to install fire hydrants. These small areas are generally only a small “bump out” averaging between 16-20 feet wide. (They are often located on property lines, so that the width of the additional ROW is split between parcels.) The ordinance change will clarify that these small areas are not to be used in determining the setback for a structure.
