Agenda Item Summary:
The Rapid City Fire Department is requesting permission to purchase a Rosenbauer Aerial Platform for the amount of $1,477,189.00 through Sourcewell. This purchase will replace current Truck 3 as it has reached its replacement date and will be moved to a reserve apparatus. The department is requesting to purchase utilizing 2022, 2023, and 2024 money that is dedicated to the purchase of fire vehicles out of CIP. The manufacturer has advised that their apparatus will see a “sizable” price increase January 15, 2024 making it financially advantageous to the City to approve the purchase now. With the approval we will lock in the current price. Upon a signed contract the truck will take approximately two (2) years to build. If a payment of $494,331.00 is paid upon chassis delivery a discount of $18,984.00 will be given. If a payment of $436,444.00 is paid upon chassis delivery a discount of $8,523.00 will be given. Total discounts of $27,507 would be given for a total amount to be paid of $1,449,682.
