Agenda Item Summary:
The Rapid City Police Department is requesting Council authorization to apply for and accept if awarded a 2024 South Dakota Department of Public Safety Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) Grant. This is a grant that the RCPD has received the previous four years and provides valuable support for the community and our officers. These positions will support existing programming focused on providing improved support to victims and at-risk youth in the City.
The grant requires no funding match from the City. The 2024 VOCA grant funding projection is $136,600 which will allow the RCPD to improve victim and youth services with a dedicated Victims Service Specialist and At-Risk Youth Coordinator.
