Agenda Item Summary:
The Rapid City Fire Department is requesting permission to apply for and accept $300,000 in Western States Fire Managers Grant funding for a Wildfire Mitigation Project. This grant would provide dollars necessary to target projects set specifically for heavily timbered/overgrown areas along Hwy 16, Catron Blvd, and Skyline Drive. It provides a 50% reimbursement of fuels treatment costs to property owners that participate in our program. In 2022 we allocated nearly $300k in reimbursement, treating just over 400 acres of private land in and around Rapid these funds are essential to our project.
