Agenda Item Summary:
This past legislative session, SB 51 was passed which appropriated $850,000 to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety to grant to the Rapid City Fire Department the money to purchase and build a fire training tower and burn room. This grant is designed to construct the tower/burn room to be a part of a regional training center/facility that will for use by departments throughout the region. The tower/burn room will be controlled by the Rapid City Fire Department with it’s use regulated by us.
The grant will provide funding for the purchase and construction of the tower and burn room.
