Agenda Item Summary:
Over the past two years the Rapid City Police Department has been maintaining even recruitment to retirement/resignation ratio, but has seen the pool of applicants drastically decrease. Much like the rest of the nation, the RCPD is looking to expand our recruitment scope by bringing on a specialized recruitment position. The Federal Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) office is looking to fund programs that are creating new approaches to hiring officers.
The RCPD is requesting permission to apply and accept the COPS grant if awarded.
