Agenda Item Summary:
This ordinance is brought forward by the Fire Department to update the annual permit process for Fire Alarm Central Station Monitoring services provided to businesses in Rapid City. This ordinance separates the Fire Service Central Station monitoring provisions from the Police Alarm monitoring provisions, thus eliminating confusion of applicability. It adjusts the application and licensing period of effectiveness to coincide with typical “UL Certificate” issuance required of service providers outside of the City of Rapid City. Lastly, this ordinance changes licensing fees so they are set by Council resolution and simplifies the reference to requirements for Central Station Service Standards.
