Agenda Item Summary:
The Mayor’s Office requests authorization to apply for an Early Learner Community Toolkit Grant: Implementation Grant Round 1 to assist funding ongoing work for Early Learner Rapid City. The work of Early Learner Rapid City is in alignment with the National League of Cities’ Early Learning Community Action Guide, and is a partnership between the Mayor’s Office, the John T. Vucurevich Foundation, Black Hills Reads, and the South Dakota Association for the Education of Young Children. This work has been ongoing since the end of 2018, over 50 community members volunteer to serve on one of five subcommittees, and the current focus is on Block 1 of the NLC Guide: community leadership, commitment, and public will.
