Agenda Item Summary:
Currently Rapid City Municipal Code Chapter 8.28 declares all grass and weeds above 8 inches in height to be a nuisance and a prohibited condition. There are currently no exemptions from the ordinance, but reasonable exceptions are often made at staff’s discretion. This proposed ordinance revision to Chapter 8.28 of the RCMC was a collaboration between the Parks Department, Code Enforcement, the Stormwater Drainage Utility, and the City Attorney’s Office. The intent of this ordinance revision is to allow specific exemptions to the maximum grass height of 8 inches that conform to current practice and reasonableness.
