Agenda Item Summary:
A request was received in the Engineering Office on July 23, 2021, requesting the requirement to install sidewalk along 3356 Dyess Ave per City of Rapid City Ordinance 12.08.060 be waived. A five-foot wide sidewalk is required to be constructed along the frontage at the time of building permit, with the property having approximately 1300 feet of frontage along Dyess Avenue. Dyess Ave in this location is a rural paved street section with no curb and gutter and an adjacent ditch. There are no other sidewalks in the area to connect to and construction of sidewalks along these corridors is impractical due to the rural nature of the roadways. Staff supports the request to waive the requirement to install sidewalks.
