Agenda Item Summary:
The City Attorney’s Office has had two meetings with pet business owners and other members of the public to explain the history behind the proposed changes to Title 6 and discuss Ordinance 6456. The group tweaked definitions in the definition section (Section 6.04.010) and added a subsection in the “Care and Treatment” section (Section 6.08.130). At the end of the two meetings, the group came to a consensus on the Ordinance. An updated Ordinance 6456 is attached. The City Attorney’s Office will give a presentation about the history behind the need to separate licensing for kennels, pet daycares, pet grooming businesses, and pet stores (that are currently being licensed in one category as “kennels”), so that the Council can get a better understanding of the reasons for proposed Ordinance 6456.
