Agenda Item Summary:
At the April 19 Council Meeting, Domico Rodriguez from Destination Rapid City gave a presentation about giving meters. This item follows that presentation and would allow the installation of giving meters in downtown Rapid City (East Blvd to West Blvd/Omaha to South St.) The resolution authorizes the Mayor and city staff to work out the details of location, signage, and number of meters. It authorizes installation in the public right-of-way and on city-owned property. It does not allow any individual or for-profit business to receive donations, but limits proceeds to non-profits and charities that serve the homeless or other vulnerable populations.
