A request was received in the Engineering Office on April 15, 2021 requesting the requirement to install sidewalk along Pevans Parkway per City of Rapid City Ordinance 12.08.060 be waived. A four-foot wide sidewalk is required to be constructed along Pevans Parkway, at the time of building permit, with the property having approximately 596 feet of frontage. The property owner is looking to build an oversized garage on the property triggering the need to install sidewalk. The requested variance will allow for construction on the property without the installation of sidewalk in the adjacent Pevans Parkway right-of-way. The adjacent Pevans Parkway is a two lane, paved, rural street section with no sidewalks and topographical conflicts. The closest sidewalk is roughly 1500 linear feet by way of existing city streets on Tower Road.
