Agenda Item Summary:
The City is the owner of the OneHeart property. At the time the lease was entered into, the parties contemplated that certain structures on the property would need to be demolished as the site was developed. In order to protect the City’s investment and make sure that we were involved in any decisions which might impact the value of the property, the demolition of any structures that were not specifically exempted requires the City’s approval (Paragraph 8 of the Lease). OneHeart is now requesting approval to demolish a structure that used to house the County’s 24-7 program at 230 Quincy Street. This structure is not needed by OneHeart and is currently the source of several problems. A letter from Charity Doyle, OneHeart’s Executive Director, explaining their request is attached to this summary along with a copy of OneHeart’s lease. OneHeart will pay for the demolition, they just need the City’s authorization to proceed.
