Agenda Item Summary:
A request was received in the Engineering Office on January 3, 2021 requesting the requirement to install sidewalk along Pine Hills Drive and Sturgis Road per City of Rapid City Ordinance 12.08.060 be waived. A four-foot wide sidewalk is required to be constructed along Pine Hills Drive, and a five-foot wide sidewalk is require along Sturgis Road, at the time of building permit, with the property having approximately 404 feet of frontage along Pine Hills Drive and approximately 419 feet of frontage along Sturgis Road. This neighborhood has a two lane, paved, rural street section with no grading in place for sidewalks. The closest sidewalk is approximately 0.6 miles to the south east along Sturgis Road. The requested variance will allow for residential construction on the property without the installation of sidewalk in the adjacent Pine Hills Drive right-of-way and Sturgis Road right-of-way.
