Agenda Item Summary:
The Rapid City Fire Department is requesting permission to purchase replacement Cardiac Monitor/Defibrillators. The current cardiac monitors are rapidly approaching end of life and availability of ongoing maintenance from the manufacturer is becoming increasingly difficult. The cardiac monitor is used by our medic units to assess and treat many of our patient types. They are designed to act as a small computer that can diagnose vital signs and cardiac rhythms, while also providing electrical intervention. This monitor as it is designed interfaces with our patient care reports and our billing software to provide pertinent medical information that is used in both the acute and long-term medical settings. These computers are also able to transmit thru secure data connections directly to Monument Hospitals Emergency Department so they can be prepared for the patient’s arrival.
