Agenda Item Summary:
A request was received in the Engineering Office on December 4, 2020 requesting the requirement to install sidewalk along the Catron Boulevard frontage of 2260 Promise Road per City of Rapid City Ordinance 12.08.060 be waived. A five-foot wide sidewalk is required to be constructed along Catron Boulevard, at the time of building permit for 2260 Promise Road, with the property having approximately 328 feet of frontage along Catron Boulevard. The property owner is looking to build a coffee shop on the property triggering the need to install sidewalk. The requested variance will allow for construction on the property without the installation of sidewalk in the adjacent Catron Boulevard right-of-way. The adjacent Catron Boulevard is constructed as a rural road with drainage ditches along the road with no sidewalks in the immediate area. Staff supports this request to waive the installation of sidewalk along Catron Boulevard.
