Agenda Item Summary:
This property is a small parcel of approximately 2,200 square feet (0.05 acres) adjacent to the home at 4523 Steamboat Circle. The City acquired this lot, and several others of similar size along Chapel Lane, in 1985. The purpose of the acquisition appears to be for a proposed project to widen Chapel Lane, which never occurred. Several of the adjacent lots along Chapel Lane were surplused and disposed of in 2015 to the adjacent landowners. The current owners of the property at 4523 Steamboat Circle believed this parcel to be theirs at the time of purchasing their property in 2022. This lot is not buildable due to its small size and there is no plan to widen Chapel Lane. As such, the City has no use for this parcel.
Notice of the sealed bids was published, and bid opening occurred on October 1. One bid was received by Trenten A. and Sharon L. Jensen, the owners of the adjacent property, in the amount of $500.00. City staff recommend that Council award the bid to the Jensens and authorize the Mayor and Finance Director to sign the quitclaim deed and deliver to them upon receipt of the payment in full.
