RAPID CITY--The City is inviting the public to participate in a survey on downtown parking and to attend an open house on development of the Downtown Parking Study and Strategic Plan.

The open house is hosted by the City of Rapid City and Walker Parking Consultants and is scheduled for Tuesday, August 15 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Dahl Fine Arts Center.  The open house will include a brief presentation and an interactive question and answer session.

The City has also initiated a brief five-minute online survey with several questions regarding downtown parking, including frequency of visits, mode of transportation, factors in individual parking decisions as well as asking respondents to rate their experiences and provide suggestions for future downtown parking options.  To access the survey, go to bit.ly/rcdowntownparking .

"The survey and open house will provide important input on developing strategies by the City for parking in downtown Rapid City," said Sarah Hanzel, City Long Range Planner.  "The Downtown Parking Study and Strategic Plan is part of implementation of the City's Downtown Master Plan, which guides priorities for downtown improvements over the next five to seven years."

The survey link will be available until August 28.
