Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans
Federal Clean Water education funds, South Dakota Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the South Dakota Association of General Contractors sponsored a class in Rapid City on How to Develop and Implement a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan in April 2003. The following documents were reviewed and discussed during that class, and participants completed group exercises to develop their thought process. These documents are provided to you on this web page to assist you with complying with state permitting requirements and city stormwater program goals.
To access the following two documents, right click the link, select "Save Target As", and save to your hard drive. From here you can bring them up in Microsoft Word and modify them as necessary.
The following file is in PDF format and contains best management practices (BMPs) from Washington State. These were provided as part of the training course materials. They are just a resource for inserts into your SWPPP. Rapid City will be developing city specific BMP guidelines in the future. PDF files require Adobe Acrobat Reader. Remember, your pollution prevention plan is a living document that must be established prior to any site grading. Train all applicable employees on the plan and general stormwater pollution prevention techniques. The plan may change or require modification through your project and any changes or modifications must be documented and filed as part of your plan. Keep your plan on your construction site at all times! An inspection by the state or the city will begin with a review of the plan on site.
