Solid Waste Material Recovery Facility (MRF) Recycling

Q: When is the sanitary landfill open?
.......A: The landfill is open from 7:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday thru Saturday.

Q: What can I recycle and where?
.......A: Plastic, Glass, and aluminum can be taken to The Material Recovery Facility (MRF) at the Rapid City landfill at 5555 S. Hwy 79 and is open from 7:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday thru Friday.

Q: Does the City pick up tree branches from my property?
.......A: No, the City has four (4) locations throughout the city where tree branches, etc can be dropped off at.The landfill at the Rapid City landfill at 5555 S. Hwy 79 and is open from 7:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday thru Saturday, is one location. Fitzgerald Stadium, Canyon Lake Dr. and Sheridan Lake Rd.; on Fairmont Blvd. just west of Hwy 79. and on Gold Street and near Anamosa St. and I-190.
