The Rapid City Police Department has created a new program that recruits volunteers from the community to participate in the Rapid City Police Auxiliary Program. Our goal is to find meaningful work that will prove to be satisfying for people who volunteer their time providing non-paid police support. The various sections of the department have identified areas that volunteers can work and training will be appropriate to complexity/demands of the position and capabilities of the volunteer. In addition, there are monthly meetings/social events that build cohesiveness and a sense of belonging that has been patterned on auxiliaries of other police departments. If you are interested in becoming a Police Auxiliary Volunteer, please contact Captain Doug Thrash at (605) 394-4133.
