Friday Night, June 6
Staging and the Cruiser Party will be in downtown Rapid City
Cruiser Night 2008 will
be held Friday Night, June 6th, 2008. Cruiser Night is free and open to everyone.
Cruiser Night 2008 will again be the kickoff event for the Black
Hills Overdrive event series. Cruisers are expected from many
neighboring states, so make every attempt to drive safely and
make our guests feel welcome. Cruiser Night is an annual event
sponsored every June by the City
of Rapid City and the Rapid
City Police Department. Cruiser Night is a public event,
and parents and teens are especially encouraged to come and cruise
together; no registration is necessary to participate.
Rapid City’s annual
Cruiser Night event was originally conceived as “Parent
Cruiser Night” in an effort to increase awareness and parental
involvement in the activities of their driving-age teens. It
is the philosophy of the Rapid City Police Department that when
parents are involved in their youth’s activities, those
youths are more likely to become responsible adults. Parental,
teen and sibling involvement is especially encouraged, as well
as anyone who would like to show their vehicle, old or new, or
simply have fun seeing other cruisers’ cars. It is expected
that all cruisers and onlookers understand the rules of traffic
safety and will abide by all city ordinances and state statutes,
making Cruiser Night a safe event for drivers, passengers and
spectators.
Additional aims of Cruiser
Night are to offer cruisers a fun opportunity to gain understanding
of the services provided by local, regional, and state law enforcement,
fire and emergency services, and other public safety organizations.
(There is
no registration or fee necessary for participating in Cruiser Night.
Cruiser Night is sponsored by the City of Rapid City and the Rapid
City Police Department.)
