The Roosevelt Park Ice Arena is proud to offer programs and classes designed to teach the game of ice hockey to individuals of all ages. Programs are also offered to encourage practice and improvement of the skills being taught.

For those who have no skating experience, it is highly recommended that you participate in the Learn to Skate Program prior to enrolling in hockey due to the complexity of the activities.

Learn to Play Hockey
This beginner hockey program works well with our Learn to Skate Hockey program. The only difference is that it covers the necessary fundamentals needed in order to excel in the game. Skating, puck control, passing/receiving, shooting, defensive tactics, and offensive tactics will be introduced throughout the program which will meet once a week for six weeks. Full protective gear is not required for this specific program, but is recommended for your safety. Skates, helmet, and a stick are required and may be available at no additional cost.

Youth Skills, Drills and Thrills
This youth player development program is designed to keep our children and "edges" sharp during the off-season. It will meet 2 times per week for 4 weeks in preparation for the Rapid City Rush Summer Hockey Camp. To obtain a registration form for the Rush Summer Hockey camp schedueld for July 20-24, please visit the official Rapid City Rush website at www.rapidcityrush.com.

Drop-In Hockey
Due to the popularity of Drop-In Hockey, The Roosevelt Park Ice Arena will offer a number of different drop-in categories and times. The RPIA reserves the right to make changes as necessary, and the following schedule is subject to change as the season progresses.

Adults (18 and over): $6.50/session or $52/10 punch pass
Tuesday & Thursday: 11:30am - 1:00 pm
Wednesdays: 8:45 - 10:15 pm

Youth (17 and under): $4.50/session or $32/10 Punch Pass
Thursday & Friday: 3:45 - 4:45 pm

Rapid City Summer Adult League Hockey
We will be running a summer hockey league for the adult hockey die-hards who wish to stay in the game during the off-season. The league set up will be determined based on the number of participants as well as the caliber of the players. The league will last for 11 weeks with games being played on either Tuesday or Thursday evenings. There will only be one game per night.

May 19 - July 30: Tuesday/Thursday: 8:15 - 9:45 pm
