Halley Park Gardens
Halley Park is located in the "gap" between the east and west side of Rapid City and is one of the community's original parks. Halley Park is a long, narrow park between Main and St. Joseph Streets. A log cabin built in the late 1800's commemorates the first structure built in Rapid City. The park also displays nearly 900 roses and thousands of annual flowers in a semi-formal design. Local residents and tourists are treated to a riot of colors as they drive by in the summer months. Those with more time are encouraged to park in the lot on the east side of the park and stroll through the gardens and "smell the roses"! There are also picnic tables available for those wanting to enjoy lunch in Halley Park.
