General Information
SD National Guard -- FREE SWIM July 25, 2008 - 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM One can of food per person (proceeds to benefit area food banks). We woud like to show our appreciation to our South Dakota National Guard members and their families. Entrance fee is a non-perishable food item to be donated to the area Food Pantry. (No baby food or glass items please.) Jimmy Hilton Pool, also known as Sioux Park Pool, is located at 940 Sheridan Lake Road near Camp Rapid. Come join us for a splash of a time; we hope to make this an annual event! Please no glass containers or alcoholic beverages. Need a Ride to the Pool? | ![]() |
| Consider using the public transportation system RAPID RIDE! Service along four routes is provided every 35 minutes, five days a week from 6:15 AM to 6:30 PM. All transfers are performed at the Milo Barber Transportation Center located at Omaha and 6th Street. Schedules are available at various locations throughout Rapid City such as schools, banks, public offices and the Rapid Transit Office. | ||

Water Safety Tips |

| Never swim alone. | |
| Learn how to swim properly. | |
| Know the rules and always follow them. | |
| Always enter feet-first the first time you go into the water. | |
| Always check water depth before diving. | |
| Learn how to help others without risking your own safety. | |
| Wear waterproof sunscreen and apply it frequently. Rapid City pools allow you to wear shirts made of Lycra or nylon to prevent sunburned backs (T-shirts and cut-off jeans are not allowed). | |
| Avoid water if you are very cold, very tired or overheated. | |
| If you notice anything wrong or anyone in trouble, tell the Lifeguard. | |
Supervision/Pool Policies |

All children under 7 years of age must be accompanied by a caregiver at least 15 years old. This person must pay to enter the facilty and must be in the water with the child. |

Supervision Ratios |
|
| 18 years of age and older: 8 children to 1 adult 15 to 17 years of age: 4 children to 1 teen |

| Storm Warnings | |
| If the pool is closed because of inclement weather before 3:00 pm and the weather then clears, the pool will reopen at the discretion of the Aquatics Director. | |
| Inclement Weather | |
The Rapid City Aquatics Division does not offer refunds or rain checks. Patrons who pay to enter aquatic facilites do so at their own risk. Refunds or rain checks will not be issued. Staff members will make every effort to inform patrons of this policy when inclement weather appears to be approaching. The pools will not open if the temperature is less than 65 degrees F. Call the Swim Center 394-5223 or your neighborhood pool for information. |
