Congratulations to
Tom Brady

In partnership with the Veterans Coordination Commission, we are pleased to present the October 2007 Veteran of the Month Recognition to Tom Brady.

Tom Brady entered the U. S. Army in 1972, attended basic training at Ft. Leonardwood, Missouri. He completed his advance training as a military police officer at Ft.Gordon, GA and was discharged in 1973. After a 13 year break in service, Tom re-entered the South Dakota National Guard in 1986, serving at the Headquarters of the 147th Field Artillery as a field wireman. He was also a TAMS clerk for Charlie Battery and worked I warehouse supply for the 235th General Supply Company. Tom served in the Individual Ready Reserve as a military police officer at Ft. Bliss, Texas and Carl Barracks, PA. Tom deployed for Southwest Asia in September, 1991 in support of Operation Desert Shield/Operation Desert Storm and was stationed just outside of Kuwait City.

Tom’s military recognitions include 5 medals for his service in Southwest Asia, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 2 bronze stars, Kuwait Liberation Medal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait Liberation Medal Government of Kuwait, National Defense Medal with 1 bronze star, Army Achievement Medal, Army Accommodation Medal, and Army Service Ribbon. He currently receives 100% service-connected disability from the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Tom has been a member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) since 2001. He served as a member of the publicity committee in 2006 and 2007 and was elected to the Executive Board in 2007. As a volunteer driver, Tom has logged more than 10,000 miles in the DAV van that transports veterans from Rapid City to Ft. Meade. He also transports veterans to the Minneapolis Veterans Hospital as well as helping in the DAV Office at Ft. Meade. Tom is also a member of the American Legion, VFW and 40/8.
