| In partnership with the Veterans Coordination Commission, we are pleased to present the April, 2007 Veteran of the Month Recognition to Frank Henderson. Frank Henderson was a 1st Lieutenant on patrol behind the North Korean lines when the officer in charge became disorientated and was not sure how to return back to their friendly lines. The Captain gave command to Lt. Henderson, who returned the patrol to safety. For his actions, Lt. Henderson received the Bronze Star. When a severe windstorm caused the Korean War Memorial at the Black Hills National Cemetery to be destroyed, a new one was purchased and installed. Frank Henderson had the old one repaired at his expense and installed on their property southeast of new Underwood on Baseline Road as a Korean War Memorial. Frank and his wife Norma take care of the flagpole and fence and replace the American flag as needed. Frank Henderson
is past West River Korean War Veterans Commander, past Chapter 3 Disabled
American veteran Commander and past South Dakota State Supreme Court
Justice.
