Congratulations to
Vincent (Vince) A. Huebner!

In partnership with the Veterans Coordination Commission, we are pleased to present the October, 2006 Veteran of the Month to Vincent (Vince) A. Huebner.

Vince Huebner joined the United States Air Force in 1951 while living in Akron, Iowa. Throughout his career, he remained in the Administration Career Field until his retirement as Administrative Supervisor and First Sergeant of the 4ACCS organization in September, 1979 as a Senior Master Sergeant.

Vince was stationed at various bases in the United States and overseas including England, Greenland, Philippines, and Southeast Asia (Thailand). From 1967 to 1971, Vince was assigned to the Inspector Generals team for the Western Communication Service. During his tour in the Philippines, he experienced a typhoon that destroyed one end of the warehouse that was used to house all mail bound for Southeast Asia and around the world and amazingly, not one piece of mail was lost.

Vince’s awards and decorations include: Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Commendation Medal w/Bronze OLC, Army Good Conduct Medal w/2 Bronze Clusters, National Defense w/Bronze Star, Vietnam Service Medal w/2 Bronze Stars, AF Longevity Service Award Ribbon w/Silver OLC, AF NCO Professional Military Graduate Ribbon, Small Arms Marksmanship Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation w/Palm, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

After retirement from the Air Force, Vince graduated from Western Dakota Technical Institute and was employed in the Wood Hobby Shop until 1992. Vince is a Life Member of various military organizations including the Disabled American Veterans, Non-Commissioned Officers Association, The Retired Enlisted Association w here he is currently a three year director as well as a member of the American Legion. Vince met and married Catherine Jones in 1954 while stationed in England and they have four grown children and eleven grandchildren.
