of the Month! March 2005 |
Congratulations
Larry
Walker! |
| The March 2005 Citizen of the Month is an exceptional individual who has touched the lives of many young people. We are very pleased to present this Citizen of the Month award to Larry Walker. Larry Walker is a true volunteer. He has given up countless hours during the year to run the electronic timer at the swim meets in Rapid City. Larry has done this for more than twenty years, long since past the time when his children were participants, his commitment to competitive swimming is still strong. His nominator states that “Larry never complains, always smiles and always has solutions for problems that arise. His job as timer is difficult, stressful and long during the meets. The Rapid City Racers would not be able to run their meets without his unfailing dedication.” Larry is the neighborhood handyman for children, often fixing bicycles and other toys and always finding time to help a child. Larry has been employed by the Maintenance Department at South Dakota School of Mines for the past twenty-two years. He has four grown children – two sons living in Rapid City, a daughter in Arizona and one in Omaha. Congratulations
to Larry for his commitment to the young competitive swimmers and for
being a tremendous asset to our community. |
