RAPID VALLEY AREA
Construction Work

Construction crews will be installing a water main along South Side Drive East of Anderson Road, Dunn Road between Anderson Road and Radar Hill Road and Radar Hill Road between East Highway 44 and Morris Lane from January 31, 2017 to August 31, 2017.  The roads will remain open to traffic at all times during the project.  If you have any questions, please contact Mainline Contracting, Inc. at (605) 348-7068

Anamosa Street
Street Closure

Anamosa Street will be closed to through traffic from North Maple Avenue to Midway Street from May 11, 2017 to October 15, 2017 for street and utility reconstruction work.  If you have any questions, please contact Hills Materials Company at (605) 394-3300.

Baldwin Street
Street Closure

Baldwin Street from Wedgewood Drive west to South Berry Pine Road will be closed to through traffic from March 27, 2017 to November 17, 2017 for street and utility reconstruction work.  If you have any questions, please contact R.C.S. Construction, Inc. at (605) 342-3787.

East Madison Street and Racine Street
Construction Work and Tempoary " No Parking" Retrictions

Construction crews will be working on East Madison Street from Milwaukee Street to North La Crosse Street and Racine Street from East Watertown Street to East Monroe Street from July 14, 2017 to August 13, 2017. The work includes removal and replacement of segments of curb and gutter on both streets, installation of ADA ramps, asphalt patching, milling and overlay. East Saint Joseph Street
Westbound Lane Closure

Westbound traffic on East Saint Joseph Street will be reduced to one lane of traffic between East Saint Charles Street and Steele Avenue from June 8, 2017 to July 29, 2017 for utility construction work.  If you have any questions, please contact Mainline Contracting, Inc. at (605) 348-7068.

Haines Avenue from Wright Street to Curtis Street
Traffic Restriction

Traffic on Haines Avenue will be reduced to one lane, each direction, from Wright Street to Curtis Street from July 17, 2017 to July 24, 2017 for utility construction work.  If you have any questions, please contact R.C.S. Construction, Inc. at (605) 342-3787.

Jolly Lane
Construction Work and Tempoary " No Parking" Retrictions

Jolly Lane will be reduced to one lane of traffic from Rapid Creek Bridge to approximately 400 feet South of Daly Court. This work will include; Jolly Lane, Daly Lane and Mulligan Court from July 17, 2017 to August 18, 2017. Traffic will be maintained by a flagger and motorist should expect minor delays.   The work includes spot repair of curb and gutter, asphalt patching and asphalt overlay of these streets. MOUNT RUSHMORE ROAD (UPDATED July 19, 2017)

Water main installation and storm sewer installation continue on Mt. Rushmore Road from Flormann Street to St Francis Street with surfacing work to follow in this area.

Work is being done on retaining walls, sidewalk, lighting, and landscape on the west side of Mount Rushmore Road from Saint James Street to Saint Patrick Street. Saint Cloud Street will be closed intermittently for surfacing work. Franklin Street is anticipated to be closed this Friday through the end of July. A shift in traffic, to the new pavement in the southbound lanes of Mount Rushmore Road from Saint James Street to Saint Patrick Street, is anticipated the week of August 1.

The west half of the Saint Patrick Street intersection is closed for surfacing work and is anticipated to be opened the first week of August. Business access will be maintained from the west on St. Patrick Street for the majority of this closure.

A Temporary Pedestrian Access Route will be maintained on the west side of Mount Rushmore Road from Flormann Street to Saint Francis Street, and the east side of Mount Rushmore Road from Saint Francis Street to Saint James Street.

Pedestrian access between Clark and South streets is on the west side of Mount Rushmore Road until handrail installation is completed, which is anticipated to be by the end of August. Temporary Pedestrian Access Routes are at Fairview and South streets.

Business access on Mount Rushmore Road will remain open at all times. Left-hand turns across traffic are discouraged to allow for continued flow of traffic. Motorists are asked to slow down through the work zone and be prepared for: suddenly slowing, merging and stopped traffic, minor delays, loose gravel, uneven surfaces and bumps, as well as construction workers and equipment adjacent to the roadway.

Public progress meetings are held every Wednesday at 8 a.m. at The Rushmore Hotel for the project between Saint James and Flormann streets. North Maple Avenue
Street Closure

North Maple Avenue from Mac Arthur Street to East Nowlin Street including the intersection of North Maple Avenue and Anamosa Street will be closed to traffic from May 30, 2017 to August 16, 2017 for street and utility reconstruction work. Radar Hill Road
Heavy Construction Traffic

Effective immediately there will be traffic control near the intersection of Radar Hill Road and Morris Lane for construction of a new Pressure Reducing Valve Facility. Seger Drive
Street Closures

Seger Drive from the intersection of 143rd Avenue to the intersection of North La Crosse Street and East Mall Drive will be closed to traffic from March 21, 2017 to November 17, 2017 for drainage improvements and utility and road reconstruction work.  Please use an alternate route of travel.  Freeland Subdivision north of Seger Drive can be accessed via the intersection of East Mall Drive and Seger Drive.  If you have any questions, please contact Highmark, Inc. at (605) 718-7424.

Southside Drive #1
Construction Work

Effective Thursday, March 30, 2017, utility work for the City’s Rapid City Water Expansion-Southside Drive Water Main Extension project will begin.  The project includes the area to the west of the intersection of Southside Drive and Redemption Road, work will continue to the west to Anderson Road and the southeast side along Anderson Road to Winton Street.  During this time of utility improvements, the work for the project will be occurring along the south shoulder of Southside Drive and the east shoulder of Anderson Road.  All work will be complete by November 17, 2017.  If you have any questions, please contact Lind-Exco, Inc. at (605) 348-6115.

Construction Work

South Valley Drive
Traffic Restriction

Traffic will be restricted on South Valley Drive from Long Acre Drive to Eden Lane from June 12, 2017 to July 24, 2017 for utility construction work.  If you have any questions, please contact Site Work Specialists, Inc. at (605) 355-0933.

West Omaha Street
Traffic Restriction

Effective Monday, June 19, 2017, West Omaha Street will be restricted to one lane of traffic in each direction between Mountain View Road and Cross Street for installation of a box culvert as part of the City’s West Omaha Drainage and Utility Improvements project. West Omaha Street
Street Closure and Public Access Closure

Effective April 4, 2017, Oshkosh Street south of West Omaha Street will remain closed for utility work for the West Omaha Drainage and Utility Improvements project.

The Disc Golf Course and Soccer Field parking lot will be closed to Public Access through September 1, 2017

West Rapid Street
Street Closure

Effective Wednesday, June 14, 2017, utility work for the City’s West Omaha Drainage and Utility Improvements project will begin on West Rapid Street between Canal Street and Oshkosh Street. During this time, West Rapid Street will be closed to thru traffic. Access will be provided to the affected businesses via Oshkosh Street.
