| One of the Weed and Seed's most active committees, the Community Relations Committee, is proud to announce the installment of 'community pride' banners they have diligently worked on for the past 9 months. This idea was 'proposed' at the last Weed and Seed Business Association meeting at the Parkway Restaurant in December 2005. In addition to the various accomplishments of the Weed and Seed Program, this committee's commitment to 'community pride' will now become a reality, with the placement of 12 street banners on approved, city light poles on LaCrosse, Cambell and Omaha. Although the Weed and Seed program will be phasing into a new organization, namely the A.C.E. or Advocates for Community Enhancement; the Community Relations Committee's goal will now become a reality, which includes creating one more opportunity to 'welcome' individuals into our charming and scenic city and/or create a sense of pride. Most visitors and local citizens travel through the north side of town - for shopping, their work, and sporting events. Bottom-line, the 'north' territory is one of the busiest, and most profitable areas in Rapid City. With permission and approval of our City Council, this committee will be displaying the 2' x 4' 'Welcome' banners on the (above) streets. We thank the Council for this consideration, along with the expertise of a local engineering firm, Albertson Engineering, for testing the street poles for 'structural stability'.
