Founders Park is located at 1510 West Omaha Street on the north side of Rapid Creek just west of the Executive Golf Course. It is named for the original "founders" of Rapid City who camped on this site when the original township was surveyed and laid out. Most of the open space was acquired after the 1972 Flood.
This park consists of approximately 60 acres and includes a new picnic shelter/restroom facility which was constructed in 2012. Founders Park is the center of the Leonard Swanson Memorial Pathway and serves as it's main trailhead. Founders Park offers easy access to many miles of hiking and biking trails in Hanson-Larsen Memorial Park and Chuck Lien Family Park. Founders Plaza is also located in this area and includes an interpretive history display of the founding and original layout of Rapid City.
Founders Park is home to the Black Hills Farmers Market which operates from June through October each year.
The park also includes four lighted sand volleyball courts, picnic tables and the Rapid Trout sculpture.
