The Roosevelt Park Ice Arena is proud to offer programs and classes designed to teach the game of ice hockey to individuals of all ages. Programs are also offered to encourage practice and improvement of the skills being taught.

Imagine That 2010 Hockey League Champions

For those who have no skating experience, it is highly recommended that you participate in the Learn to Skate Program prior to enrolling in hockey due to the complexity of the activities.

Class Descriptions

Learn to Play Hockey
This beginner hockey program is a supplement to our Learn to Skate Hockey program. In this class you will learn the basic skills needed to excel in the game. Skating, puck control, passing/receiving, shooting, defensive tactics, and offensive tactics will be introduced and taught throughout the program that will meet once a week for six weeks. Full protective gear is not required for this specific program, but is recommended for your safety. Skates, helmet, and a stick are required and may be available at no additional cost.

Session 3: Wed 5:00 - 6:00 pm; Jan 11 - Feb 15
Session 4: Wed 5:00 - 6:00 pm; Feb 22 - Mar 28
Youth (17 & under): $50
Adults: $60

Adult Hockey League
League format will be based on the number of teams and/or players registered. In any case, it will consist of a fall, winter and spring season each lasting for approximately 8 weeks. Must be 18 years of age to play int he "A" or "B" division and 16 years of age to play in the "C" Division. For more information call the Ice Arena at 394-6161.

Session 3: M,T,W,Th: 7:00 - 10:45 pm: Mar 5 - May 3

Fees:
1 session (8 games) $100
2 sessions (16 games) $172

Adult Hockey Player Development
This is an excellent program for adults that have minimal playing experience or simply want to gain more knowledge about the game. The goal is to enhance the basic fundamentals, skills and tactics needed to excel in the sport, but most importantly, to enjoy the game. Emphasis will be on fundamental development and awareness on the ice. Full protective gear is required.

Drop-In Hockey
The City of Rapid City and the Roosevelt Park Ice Arena reserve the right to make changes to these times and costs as necessary.

Adults (18 & over) $7.00 per time
Tuesdays/Thursdays: 11:30 - 1:00 pm
Fridays: 5:00 - 6:30 pm
Sundays: 8:15 - 9:45 pm

Youth (17 & under): $5.00 per time
Mondays and Wednesdays: 3:45 - 4:45 pm
