Black Hills Skating Academy Summer Skate Camps

Little Ice Princess Party
This skating camp is designed especially for your little skating princess. No prior skating experience is required; all levels of skaters are welcome. We teach all the necessary skills to your little princess while playing skating games and having fun. Snack time breaks and coloring activities will be provided. Our skate party ends on Thursday with a short recital for the parents. Gloves and bicylce helmets recommended for toddlers. Please notify instructor of any food allergies. Ages 4-7

Beginning Skate Camp
This camp is designed for the beginning skater to learn basic skating skills in a fun environment. This camp is open to boys and girls from ages 5 years and up. No prior skating experience is required; all basic skill levels are welcome. We teach the necessary skills to master the beginning basics of skating and work on crossovers and backward skating while playing games and having fun. We will even teach you a few fun tricks to impress your friends and family. Bicycle helmets and gloves recommended for young skaters. Please notify instructor of any food allergies. Ages 5 and up.

Mini Mite Hockey Camp
This beginning skate camp is designed for young boys and girls that want to play hockey. The skills learned will coincide with Learn to Skate Snowplow Sam and beginning Hockey classes. No prior skating experience is necessary. Gloves and bicycle helmets recommended for toddlers. No hockey equipment please. Notify instructor of any food allergies. Ages 4-6

Ice Fairy Party
This fairy themed skate camp is designed especially for young girls. Snack time breaks and craft activities will be provided. No prior skating experience is required; all levels of skaters are welcome. We teach all the necessary skills for your child to transform into an ice fairy while skating and having fun. Advanced Skate Camp
This camp is designed to enhance the artistry and technical ability for advanced freestyle skaters. We will work specifically on stretching and improving flexibility, facial expressions, upper body carriage and leg extension, jumping, conditioning, and mental preparedness techniques will be implemented and discussed while working to improve our jumps, spins and endurance. Open to skaters Freeskate 1 and above. Levels will be divided into groups. Snacks and water will be provided at break time. Please notify instructor of any food allergies.

Beginning Hockey Camp
The focus of this camp is to teach the fundamental skating skills for skaters specifically interested in playing hockey. Stick and puck drills will only be introduced on a very introductory level and are not intended to be the focus of the camp. Skaters may bring an extra bottle of water and should bring gloves and a helmet. Hockey gear is not required. Snacks and water will be provided at break time. Please notify instructor of any food allergies. Ages 7 and up.

Youth Skills, Drills & Thrills
This youth player development program is designed to keep our children and "edges" sharp during the off-season. It will meet two times per week for 4 weeks. This is a great class to keep in pratice for the second Planet Hockey Camp.

Skate and Splash
Come join the coolest camp in town! Our annual camp is designed for skaters at the beginnintg level and above. We will skate with instructors 3-4 hours per day, have one hour of off-ice conditioning (examples are water aerobics, step workout, plyometrics, or dance) and break for a catered lunch. The afternoons are spent next door at theSwim Center pool. All participants should bring a water bottle, gloves, swimsuit and a towel (helmet recommended for first time skaters). Ice skate rentals and lunch are included in the camp fee.

Students will be grouped according to hockey focus or figure skating focus. In addition to the basic skills, each group will also be exposed to a variety of different skating classes that we offer such as footwork, power stroking, freestyle, speed skating, moves in the field, artistry, interpretive and ice dancing.

Monday-Friday, August 1-5, 2011: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Cost is $200 per person if registered prior to July 15, and $130 for each additional family member. After July 15 cost is $220 per person and $130 for each additonal family member.
