Summer Reading Program 2013 - Start Reading On June 8th!
It’s easy for kids to join the Summer Reading Program! Pick up Reading Logs at either library or download one. This year the Summer Reading Program will run from June to July only.
Don't miss the special story times this summer! The Orlando Chamber Orchestra will present their "Teddy Bear Series" Story Times at both libraries in June and July. Favorite children's stories will be set to live classical music!

The Family Adventure Scavenger Hunt is a great way to get the whole family involved in the Summer Reading Program. Pick up a Family Adventure Booklet from either library or download one. (see right panel)

A summer reading event for teens! Zombie costume contest will begin at 6 p.m. with a zombie program by Indiana Bones to follow.

Family Adventure Scavenger Hunt
Families will be on the hunt to discover unique features of Rapid City and the surrounding area. Pick up a Family Adventure Booklet from either library or download one, then round up the family to scour the city, the library, or the internet in search of answers to 13 questions.
Return your completed Family Adventure Booklet to either library for a prize!
Completed booklets go into a drawing for larger prizes at the end of the summer. The last day to turn in booklets is July 31, 2012.

Teddy Bear Series Story Times (website)
The Teddy Bear Series will be a young child’s first introduction to classical music. With one or two instruments, we set favorite children’s stories to popular classical music themes. The children will be invited to bring their teddy bear with them as they enjoy our story time. It will be an opportunity for the children to get up close and personal with our musicians and their art. After each performance, the children will receive the opportunity to play child sized instruments in our "Musical Petting Zoo. (text taken from OCO website)

Kids Summer Reading Program Details Read or be read to for at least 15 minutes a day for 25 & 50 days. Keep track of your reading by filling in the pictures on your reading log(s). Join us for prizes and fun for reaching each goal! Enjoy fun events and special guests through June and July at both libraries! 50 day readers will be entered into a drawing for grand prizes at the end of July! Teens Summer Reading Program Details Read 3 books between June 8th and July 27th. Enter either a book review, a poem or a drawing for each book to be entered into a drawing for prizes. Participants are encouraged to submit entries through our Facebook page, but a paper form will also be available for entering. Teens in grades 7-12 are eligible. Download a Paper Form Here.
