Rapid City Public Library is committed and attentive to patron questions and requests through a variety of mediums: phone, online chat, email, and texting as well as in-person reference interviews. With the evolution of these services through multiple formats, library staff resources need to keep pace with the increased patron interaction and instruction for use of services.

Proctoring services have become more available at various locations with the increase of online education, for free or at a minimum cost. Currently less than 0.01% of library card holders utilize the service provided by the library.

For these reasons, starting April 1st 2011, Rapid City Public Library will no longer provide proctoring services.
