THE CITY OF RAPID CITY IS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR REALLOCATION OF UNSPENT PREVIOUS YEARS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) FUNDING FOR FISCAL YEAR 2012

The Community Development Division for the City of Rapid City will be accepting applications for the use of previous year’s unspent Community Development Block Grant funds.  Projects or activities funded must meet the National Objectives of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1992, be an eligible activity defined by the federal regulations, and meet a high priority need in the Rapid City Five Year Consolidated Plan.  Funds can be utilized for projects and programs that benefit low- and moderate-income persons or to eliminate slums and blight.  Funds may only be used for Housing, Public Facilities and Improvements or Economic Development projects.  There are no funds available for Public Services. Eligible activities consist of, but are not limited to, acquisition, rehabilitation, demolition or disposition of real property; special economic development activities; and construction, reconstruction, rehabilitation or installation of public facilities and improvements.  The Community Development Block Grant reallocated funds available will be $102,223.10.  Funding applications must be received by the City by 4:00 p.m. Monday March 12, 2012.  Interested parties having questions should contact the Community Development Division, 300 Sixth Street, Rapid City, SD  57701, at (605) 394-4181, or barbara.garcia@rcgov.org.
