Executive Director
Cameron Humphres, Airport Executive Director
Cameron Humphres has a passion for aviation that began in childhood at an air show he attended with his father. From that moment on, he was hooked on aviation setting his sights on becoming an Air Force pilot. Realizing his goals, Humphres spent 20 years in the Air Force culminating as a B-1 Instructor Pilot and Weapon’s Officer. He has also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Professional Aeronautics and a Master’s degree in Aviation Business Administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
Cameron Humphres retired from the Air Force at Ellsworth AFB, his last duty assignment. Wanting to stay in the Black Hills while continuing to pursue his aviation passion, he decided to stay in Rapid City. Humphres now finds himself running Rapid City Regional Airport. Through his guidance, the process driven focus on the airport’s mission of “Safety, Security, and Financial Health” has lead to a re-organization of the airport’s staffing structure.
As a member of both the American Association of Airport Executives and Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, he is up to date on pending legislation and regulations that affects the aerospace industry. Humphres sits on the Board of Directors of Black Hills Central Reservations, which creates vacation packages for the Black Hills region, and the Air Service Task Force, which focuses on improving the airline service to the region.
He enjoys the great outdoor opportunities of the Black Hills and spending time with his three children waterskiing, paragliding, flying and hunting.
